Pair of Bataille Angels Linen Cushion Covers
The Company that I use who prints these panels has been formed to faithfully reproduce historic textiles, be they tapestries, embroidery or jacquard wovens. The printing technology available allows the company to copy with extraordinary accuracy the patina and colours of these exquisite pieces, and yet to offer the resulting fabrics at affordable prices. Such is the quality of the printed reproductions that historic houses and museums commission this Company to copy masterpieces to display when the original is unavailable, due either to restoration or on loan to an exhibition. The Bataille Angels & Bataille Storm, these two panels derive from the oldest surviving medieval set of tapestries, the Apocalypse of St. John, commissioned by Louis I, Duke of Anjou, in 1375 to decorate the walls of his castle at Angers, and woven in the Paris workshops of Nicholas Bataille, the most famous weaver of the day. The tapestries are notable for the combination of lively narrative and finely observed detail. Designer-Cushions.com are very pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to own your very own masterpieces, they are NOT available in stores, what a fantastic heirloom to be able to pass on through the generations.
